The Crew

Mish & Cap’n Frank

Frank and Mish (“Frisha”), Alabama natives, both worked in freshwater conservation full-time before they decided to make their sailing daydreams a reality.  One of Frank and Misha’s first adventure dates was a Learn to Sail course at the Birmingham Sailing Club. Quickly falling in love with sailing and each other, they went on to take many advanced courses and after several week-long charter trips in the Caribbean decided it was time to make it permanent.

Version 2

Frank (“Chittles,” “Willy Frank”) is the Founding Riverkeeper of Coosa Riverkeeper, a river conservation non-profit where he worked for nearly a decade protecting and restoring Alabama’s mighty Coosa River. He was recognized by Alabama Rivers Alliance as a 2019 River Hero. Frank’s passion for fine woodworking and music also intersected in his side business as a luthier building custom electric guitars for his clients. Frank holds a USCG OUPV license and is chief fixer of broken things. He also happens to do most of the breaking as well.

Mish (“Mishi”) is an attorney by trade, licensed in Alabama and Louisiana, who has spent the past few years working for Atchafalaya Basinkeeper in Louisiana to protect the largest, most productive swamp in North America. Misha is a passionate yogi, runner, Harry Potter and exploration hiking enthusiast, and amateur baker. She wears many hats on Galatea including being the best helmsman and the chief of nutrition, medicine, wellness and travel research.
